Assigning disabled mail boxes to registered users

When a user account is no longer valid, you may want to transfer the mail in that account to another mail account.

To assign a disabled mail box to a registered user:
    1 Back up the database.
Once you reassign a mail box, you can't undo the operation. To be safe, you should have a current backup of the database. (You can make a backup by clicking the database file, opening the File menu, and choosing Duplicate.)
2 Open the AppleShare IP Mail Tool and click the Assign button.
3 Click Open and select a database.
4 Click a disabled mail box.
5 Click the user to whom you want to assign the mail box.
    6 Click Reassign.

Merging mail messages

To merge mail messages in one user mail box with another mailbox:
1 Open the AppleShare IP Mail Tool and click the Merge button.
2 Click Open and select the current database.
3 Select an account whose messages you want to merge.
4 Select the account with which you want to merge the mail messages.
    5 Click Merge.

Importing or exporting messages

You can import or export mail messages created by any standard mail application.

To import or export mail messages:
1 Open the AppleShare IP Mail Tool and click the Import/Export button.
2 Click Open and select a database.
    3 Click Import or Export.
If you are importing, you must select a file that contains the messages you want to import.
