Updating, compressing, or repairing a mail database
To update, compress, or repair an AppleShare IP mail database:
1 |
Open the AppleShare IP Mail Tool and click the Update button. |
|
|
2 |
Follow the onscreen instructions. |
|
The steps are the same regardless of whether you want to update, compress, or repair a mail database. If there is nothing wrong with the database, then it is updated and compressed. If the database doesn't need to be updated, then it is compressed. |
Assigning disabled mail boxes to registered users
When a user account is no longer valid, you may want to transfer the mail in that account to another mail account.
To assign a disabled mail box to a registered user:
1 |
Back up the database. |

Once you reassign a mail box, you can't undo the operation. To be safe, you should have a current backup of the database. (You can make a backup by clicking the database file, opening the File menu, and choosing Duplicate.) |
2 |
Open the AppleShare IP Mail Tool and click the Assign button. |
|
|
3 |
Click Open and select a database. |
4 |
Click a disabled mail box. |
5 |
Click the user to whom you want to assign the mail box. |
6 |
Click Reassign. |
